How Hot Yoga Can Benefit Your Health?

Hot yoga aims to offer mind relaxation and enhance physical fitness. A heated environment helps yoga become more challenging; however, some of the advantages are worth it, particularly if you are someone who is looking forward to progress in the areas listed below.

Enhance flexibility
Stretching your muscles post-warm-up is safe and better than stretching them in cold conditions. A hot environment like the one in a hot yoga studio will make it easy for you to do yoga poses. The warm temperature lets you stretch more and attain a better motion range.

Helps build bone density
Supporting weight when you do a yoga pose helps build the density of your bones. This is significant for elder adults since their bone density tends to decline as they age.

Helps reduce stress
It is a common fact that most people resort to practising yoga since it helps handle stress. Research shows that inactive adults were able to reduce stress significantly by taking a 16-week hot yoga program.

Relieves depression
Yoga helps you relax and enhance your mood. It is also a helpful therapy to reduce depression symptoms.

Offers cardiovascular boost
When you strike various hot yoga poses in a heated environment, your lungs, heart and muscles can receive a challenging workout compared to the same poses in a normal environment. A study says one hot yoga session is equal to a brisk walk of 3.5 miles per hour to get your heart pumped.

Decreases blood glucose levels
While any exercise type can help you burn energy and decrease glucose levels, hot yoga is especially beneficial for people with type 2 diabetes.

Enhances skin nourishment
Sweating is the main intent of hot yoga. When you sweat in a warm environment, it helps to enhance circulation thereby bringing blood that is rich in nutrients and oxygen to your skin cells. This helps nourish the skin from within.

You should consider visiting a good fitness centre like Shapes Fitness Centre to strike different hot yoga poses with the guidance of the best fitness experts.

With 6 heated studios, we help others realize the benefits of yoga as well. Our studios are located at Shapes Pembina Highway, Shapes Mcphillips, Shapes Nairn, Shapes Portage, Shapes Henderson, and Shapes Vermillion.

7 Reasons to Hire a Personal Trainer

It doesn’t matter if you have just started exercising or if you have previously worked out for a few months on your own, you can still see the result you are looking forward to, with the help of a personal trainer. A qualified trainer can make you feel in shape swiftly. Here are 7 reasons why hiring a trained personal trainer could mean a lot to your fitness regime.

Defining your goal
A personal trainer can help identify your fitness goal by taking into account your present fitness level. He will make you concentrate on smaller objectives that are much more precise and sensible.

Motivation
You will never be able to find your driving force when you work out alone. A trainer can help inspire and motivate you with regular sessions. He will also boost your mental strength by praising you whenever you pull off a proper technique.

Accountability
Do you feel low and stop wanting to go to the gym? Do you find working out regularly to be tiring? You will start visiting the gym often if you have a trainer by your side at least to make sure the money that you have spent is worthy.

Personalized workout
You will get a personalized workout plan from your trainer. This custom-made plan is prepared by keeping in mind your medical history and present physical condition.

Efficacy
A skilled personal trainer will make you use all the time you have during the session. This is an added advantage, especially if you have very little time to work out.

Avoid injury
The trainer will demonstrate every form and then make you perform it. This will allow you to watch and learn properly and also ensure you do not get any likely injury.

Fun element
Doing the same old exercises might make you feel bored. Your trainer can add some zest to your exercises by changing things and making them interesting.

Regardless of your goal; muscle building, weight loss, sports training or preserving your current fitness regime, you should opt for a certified and qualified trainer from a reputed company like Shapes Fitness Centre to accomplish your goal.

Important Things You Need to Know Before Joining the Gym

Are you thinking about joining a gym or health club?

Joining a new gym can be downright intimidating for anyone. And if it is your first time, then you might feel scared looking at tons of machines, instruments and other gym-goers.

Here are a few things that you need to know before you join a gym that will make your first workout session enjoyable and productive:

1.     Choose a gym which is near and convenient to your work or home location. You don't want to waste your time driving or getting to a gym which is at a far off location. Also, a gym near your location will keep you motivated to visit it more often.

2.     Many gym or fitness centers offer a free guest pass to their first time members. So take advantage of this and try out the gym before you give your annual or monthly membership fees.

3.     When visiting a new gym it is better to take a good look at the cleanliness of the place. Make sure that the gym follows a strict policy of wiping down machines or weights after use. Also, find out if their locker rooms and bathrooms are cleaned and well maintained.

4.     If you feel like it will be hard for you to stick to your fitness goals, hire a personal trainer. A personal train will thoroughly guide and help you to achieve your goals fast. Before hiring a trainer, make sure to ask about their areas of specialization and credentials.

5.     You don't need to go to the gym every day. Depending on your fitness goals, working out 3-5 days/week is enough. Also, make sure you are sleeping well and taking enough rest between your workouts.

6.     Also, you need to follow proper nutrition along with your fitness program to see visible changes in your body. Even if you don't see any changes, then don't fret as it takes time, patience, hard work, and determination to lose fat and build your dream physique.

7.     Decide and set your goals before joining a gym. This will help the trainers at your gym to design your workout plan and also save plenty of your time and efforts.

8.     Follow all the gym rules and etiquettes. Bring a towel to wipe down the machines after use. Avoid dropping the weights on the floor and re-rack your weights after using them. Avoid using your phone while working out.

9.     Most important - Take your gym membership seriously. Going to a gym is a long term investment for your health and wellness.

9 Workout Mistakes You Need to Avoid

Going to a gym or a fitness centre is the first step in achieving great health and fitness. However, if it is your first time at the gym, then you can fall victim to many workout mistakes that can increase your chances of getting injured and hamper your gains.

Here are some workout mistakes that you need to avoid for better results:

1.     Not sticking to your workout program: You can't go to the gym and perform exercises randomly or those you like. You need to follow the workout program given by your fitness trainer to achieve results fast.

2.     Neglecting your nutrition: When it comes to fitness and achieving your dream physique, nutrition plays an important role. You can't see any visible results by avoiding a healthy and balanced diet no matter how diligently you do your exercise. Also, it is important to have a small pre and post workout meal to improve your performance and restore your energy.

3.     Following the same workout for months: You need to change your workout program every month to prevent your muscles from becoming accustomed to the same exercise pattern. To keep challenging your muscles, you need to keep changing your reps and weights.

4.     Not sleeping enough: Sleep is an important activity for everyone. However, when you exercise, it becomes more than important for you to have a recommended amount of sleep to recover your muscles.

5.     Doing only Cardio: Although cardio can help you lose weight but overdoing it can have negative effects on your cardiovascular system. By following a cardio program accompanied by a strength training program, you can lose weight much faster and further tone your body.

6.     Not staying consistent: Consistency is the key to achieve your fitness goals faster. If you are following a four days (alternate) workout program with a day of rest in between, then you should stick to this program every week. Also, you need to remain self-motivated and determined even when you don't see any results as it takes time and patience to see visible results.

7.     Using the poor form to lift weight: Performing exercises using incorrect form can not only ruin your workout session but increase your risk of injury and waste your valuable time. You should progress to heavier weight only when you have mastered a correct form of exercise with lesser weight and can perform an exercise with a full range of motion.

8.     Lifting heavy weight: This is a common problem with most gym beginners. Thinking that they will build muscles fast, many gym rookies start with heavy weights which compromise their form, leading to getting no benefits from the exercise.

9.     Not doing warm-up: Warming up before your main exercise is important to prevent injuries, prepare your muscles for your workout and improve your performance. Also, it is important to stretch to cool down after your workout.

Gym Etiquette Rules You Need to Know

It's a good start if you have started going to a gym or health club.

Whether it's your first time at the gym or your 100th, you need to follow a set of rules or maintain a certain sense of decorum when you are working out in a public space.

Here are some Gym Etiquette rules that you need to know:

1.     Sweating is important while you exercise. However, with sweating, comes the body odor. If you want to prevent people from running away from you (literally) while you exercise in the gym, use a deodorant to keep the odor in check.

2.     As no one likes to use sweaty weights or machines, carry a small towel and wipe down the machines after every use.

3.     Avoid dropping the weights on the floor. This can damage the gym floor or injure someone else.

4.     Re-rack the weights after using them. Putting the weights or equipment at their right place will help the other members to find the weights when they exercise.

5.     No one likes to be criticized or judged, especially in the gym where they have come to achieve their fitness goals. Therefore, don't point out or make fun of people when they are working out in the gym.

6.     Don't use your phone while working out. To concentrate on your exercise and avoid a potential injury, keep your phone in your locker or bag. Even if you need to take an urgent call, head outside the gym.

7.     Don't reserve the machine or equipment for yourself. Be considerate of others and their time and allow them to use the machine during your rest time.

8.     Avoid keeping your things or personal belongings out on the floor or on other machines.

Following these basic gym rules and etiquette can make your and others workout session enjoyable and productive.

5 Common Gym Mistakes You Need to Avoid

Have you been going to a gym for a long time and still seeing no visible results?

The results may vary from individuals and body types. However, if you are nowhere near to your fitness goals even after working out for more than 3 months, then either you are not doing exercises properly or committing mistakes that are preventing you from achieving gains.

Here are some common gym mistakes that you need to avoid to see results and avoid possible injuries:

1. You are not doing warm-up: Skipping warm-up can save your time but can increase your chances of getting injured. Warming up is essential to elevate your heart rate, pump up more blood and prepare your muscles for your workout session.

2. You always follow the same routine: Following the same routine, exercise, reps or sets can make your workout monotonous and further make you feel unmotivated. It is recommended to change your workout routine every 3 or 4 weeks to challenge your muscles and for optimum results.

3. Taking enough rest between sets: Your workout should last for only 60 minutes including warm-up, stretching and lifting session. To make that happen, you should keep your rest time between sets strictly to 30 or 60 seconds and focus your remaining time on exercise only.

4. Lifting too much weight or using a poor form: Using poor form while lifting weights offers no benefits and instead targets wrong muscle groups. Until you perform a set or master an exercise properly with a full range of motion, you should not add on or increase weights.

5. Not eating a healthy diet: Going to the gym regularly and lifting weights correctly is only half the battle to build an awesome body. The other half is eating a healthy and well balanced and protein-rich diet to achieve amazing results quickly.
